Natural materials are present throughout. In particular, the clients have used wood, of various varieties, a perfect fit with their tree nursery business on the property. Timber feature walls and ceilings form a significant part of the home’s interior. There is a limestone block wall that leads into the home and wraps around one side of the open plan living space.

Bedrooms are finished in Resene Eighth Akaroa or Resene Double Linen, with a feature of Resene Quarter New Denim Blue in the fourth bedroom. The Akaroa colour family continues into the open plan living and kitchen with Resene Quarter Akaroa and into the bathrooms and onto doors and cupboard doors in Resene Eighth Akaroa, while the Linen colour family continues into the entry, hallway and mudroom with Resene Linen. The master ensuite is painted in Resene Half New Denim Blue. Resene Dark Slate adds depth to the separate lounge.

These colours reflect the natural environment that the home sits in and provide a backdrop to the outside landscape.

Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen has been used on the walls, with Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen Kitchen & Bathroom in most wet areas. Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel provides a contrasting sheen on doors.

Natural and muted colours were deliberately chosen instead of bold or stark colours. This was so they could sit easily alongside the other natural finishes and not compete. The overall scheme is well connected and flows effortlessly from one space to the next.
