EnableAbility
EnableAbility provides disability services, life skills training and respite care for people in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia.
Most of the clients who use EnableAbility’s services have been in and out of hospitals and respite centres that are clinical, cold and have no life to them. EnableAbility asked Tailor & Nest Interiors to create a space for their new offices and respite centre that was as far away from a typical hospital look as possible that could brought joy to their clients.
The entire project consisted of a reception area, two offices, three respite rooms, a laundry, a multi-purpose therapy room, kitchen, two bathrooms and a converted garage activity centre.
The hallway combines the corporate colours behind EnableAbility’s logo into a striking visual treat with Resene Zylone Sheen in Resene Touche and Resene Irresistible. As they are both bright and quite vibrant, an extra hue was needed to mellow the colours down, so that they would still give joy and life, without being overpowering. With the owners being of Turkish descent and many of the clients themselves Turkish, Resene Turkish Delight was added to the mix.
For the main reception area, the logo colour needed to tie in with the furnishings and accessories, offset against an inviting vibrant colour. Resene Hullabaloo provided just the right amount of vibrancy working with the custom artwork. It also bounced light off into the room, making it bigger, and more inviting to wait in.
The garage was converted into a multipurpose room, and made safe to spend hours of time doing activities and playing games there. All the items in the garage, and the rest of the premises had to be mobility friendly, from handles with enough space to grip if one has a clenched fist, to chairs with arms for support and free of any potential trip hazards. Everything had to be sturdy, easily cleanable, and cost effective for easy replacement.
All of this was achieved on an incredibly tight budget.
