How to make turtle garden art

Habitat bright ideas with Fleur Thorpe – DIY projects

Add a colourful character to your home or garden with this friendly turtle. Or use this idea to create a tortoise or other creature.

You will need

6 stones
Small craft paintbrushes
Resene Quick Dry
Resene testpot paints in your choice of colours, Fleur used Resene Green House, Resene Forest Green, Resene Black and Resene White
Bamboo skewer

Instructions

Turtle garden art - Step 1 Step 1
Find 6 stones that will form the shape of a turtle.

Prime the top of the stones with one coat of Resene Quick Dry.

Turtle garden art - Step 3 Step 3
Once the primer is dry, paint over it with two coats of Resene Green House, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second coat.

Turtle garden art - Step 4 Step 4
Use Resene Forest Green to paint on some polygon shapes on to the largest stone for the shell. Use the blunt end of a bamboo skewer to paint on some dots on to the flippers and head.

Use Resene Black and Resene White to paint on the eyes.

Top tip: Apply Resene Art Action gloss glaze to selected parts of the shell. The gloss highlights will help to accentuate those areas.
