Instructions

Wood stain side board - Step 1 Step 1
Start by sanding off any old varnish or stain from the doors of your furniture until you are back to bare wood. Wipe any dust away with a soft dry cloth.

Wood stain side board - Step 2 Step 2
Measure the total length of the doors and divide this measurement by the total number of stripes you want to have. My stripes are 14.5cm wide. Use a measuring tape or ruler to measure out the width of each stipe along the top and bottom of the doors.

Wood stain side board - Step 3 Step 3
With a ruler, draw a line at an angle, joining your measurements from the top to the bottom. Use painters tape to tape the line on each side of your first stripe.

Wood stain side board - Step 4 Step 4
Use a soft cloth to wipe on a layer of Resene Colorwood Teak wiping off any excess. Apply two coats, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second. Fleur did two coats but doing more will give you a stronger intensity of colour.

Wood stain side board - Step 5 Step 5
Remove the tape and move on to the next stripe, this time using Resene Colorwood Mahogany.

Wood stain side board - Step 6 Step 6
You will need to do every second stripe first and once they are dry, come back to fill in the other stripes. Apply the painters tape on top of the stripes you have already done and then proceed with your next colour using the same method as above.

Wood stain side board - Step 7 Step 7
Once all the stripes are finished and dry, use a paintbrush to apply two coats of Resene Aquaclear.
