Noughts and crosses game

Step 1
Start by cutting out four peaks and five cups from a couple of egg cartons.

Step 2
For the whales, cut out some fin and tale shapes out of paper or cardboard and hot glue these to the sides and back of each whale – position them over any holes in the egg cups.

Step 3
Paint the penguins’ body in Resene Black and their tummy in Resene White. Paint the whales in Resene Seachange.

Step 4
Paint the front and back of a piece of paper or cardboard with Resene Galliano and once dry, cut out feet and beak shapes. Hot glue these to the penguins. Poke a hole in the top of each whale and poke in four short lengths of blue pipe cleaners. Bend them into shape to look like a water spout and secure them from underneath with a bit of hot glue.

Step 5
Finish the penguins and whales by painting on their faces with Resene White and Resene Black.

Step 6
For the playing board, cut a piece of ply to be 28cm by 28cm square. Measure and use painters tape to tape off the nine sections. Paint the board with two coats of Resene Frozen. Remove the tape as soon as you have finished applying the second coat. Once dry, apply two coats of Resene Aquaclear.
