Bye bye beige. The mural tells how families can come and use the bike track in the evenings and on weekends.
Background to mural creation:
At Gate Pa School all the buildings are painted beige. Even the uniform is beige. Mr Inder, the Principal, thought it was time to brighten things up. The old storage container next to the brand new bike track needed a new look. The students worked with Mrs McGrail and brainstormed. Using Google they found lots of good ideas and colours.
The students looped string across the container and drew along the lines. The corrugations on the container wall made the vertical lines. They were ready to paint! More than 40 students worked on the mural over the next three months. The children loved coming out of class to paint.
For the final touch, the cyclists were projected onto the wall for the students to paint black.
