Anahera is a Greek goddess with power, ambition and nobility pumping through her veins. As she sets off to embark on her journey of ruling Rome, she must have her best dress on. A dress that demands attention and acknowledgement, just screams with elegance and grandeur, has the power and magic to be able to seduce anyone who comes near. The dress being the most beautiful deep striking violet, which gives off a violent feeling of royalty and power, only the wearer could be lucky enough to feel.
My inspiration came from the background and history of this specific shade of purple, being linked back to Roman royalty in the 1500s BC. The dye came from the Murex shellfish which lives in the Mediterranean Sea, therefore making the dye super expensive only the richest and highest of people could afford. I was inspired to create flounces on the bodice of my dress as it represents the waves of the Mediterranean Sea. Wide straps at the back help to hold up the heavy skirt in place creating a flattering line to the back. Paired with a big and bold statement skirt with deep folded pleats to create volume and thickness to reiterate the feeling of grandeur. I was inspired with a high-low hem as I believe it would look amazing on the catwalk and also giving it a very powerful and extravagant look.
