Colour: Resene Ayers Rock
Looking at the natural structure of Ayers Rock and its surroundings for inspiration gives a feeling of awe at its impressive size in barren surrounds. There are many photos of Ayers Rock in different shades of brown/orange/red and the sky in different vibrant colours from blue to purple, with different cloud formations, especially at sunrise and sunset. Ayers Rock is millions of years old and believed to have once been under ocean. Over time wind and rain have formed lineal ridges across it and I am using the natural weft lines of the fabric to go down the garment to represent this. Although in a desert like environment, Ayers Rock does get occasional rain and the water has caused some unusual shapes to be eroded into the sandstone. This water also allows for plant matter to grow around the base, such as trees, shrubs, grass and flowers. The green portion of the sari could represent this and the purple print could represent flowers growing at the base.
