1. Mini golf madness

What you’ll need:

  • Resene testpots
  • Cardboard box
  • Craft knife
  • Masking tape
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Paintbrush

Mini golf madness - family game project

Instructions:

Cut the top off a large cardboard box and turn upside down. Paint the entire box with two coats of Resene Eighth Black White. Tape evenly spaced stripes onto the entire box using 18mm masking tape. Paint with two coats of Resene Roadster. Measure five squares along the bottom edge of the box. The centre one, 5 x 5cm, the middle two, 5 x 6.5cm and the outside two 5 x 7.5cm, with a 2.5cm gap between each. Cut out each square. Paint an arch over each hole. I’ve used Resene Broom, Resene Adrenalin, Resene Groovy, Resene Havelock Blue and Resene Moody Blue. Draw and cut out a curly edged rectangle, 23cm long and 10cm high. With a pencil write MINI GOLF in the centre and paint in with Resene Eighth Black White. Glue into place at the centre of the box. Paint number values in each arch using Resene Eighth Black White. Set up the game on the lawn or on the carpet. Each time you putt the golf ball through a hole you win the value of that hole. First to 50 wins!

2. Ice block decks

What you'll need:

  • Resene testpots
  • Large ice block sticks
  • Masking tape
  • Paintbrush
  • Pencil

Ice block decks - family game project

Instructions:

At the top of each ice block stick, pencil in the number and suit of each card. Paint with Resene Roadster for hearts, Resene Havelock Blue for diamonds, Resene Daisy Bush for clubs and Resene Groovy for spades. Paint the back of each stick with Resene Moody Blue. Line up your sticks in a row and stick diagonal stripes across them all with 18mm masking tape. Paint all the sticks with Resene Daisy Bush. Once dry, sit down with the family for a card game with a twist.

3. Hopscotch

What you'll need:

  • Resene testpots
  • Door mats
  • Ruler
  • Cutting mat
  • Pencil
  • Masking tape
  • Craft knife
  • Paintbrush

Hopscotch - family game project

Instructions:

Measure and cut four door mats into eight 30x30cm squares with a craft knife. Paint each square in Resene Roadster, Resene Adrenalin, Resene Broom, Resene Groovy, Resene Wham, Resene Havelock Blue, Resene Moody Blue and Resene Daisy Bush. Draw the numbers onto masking tape and cut out with a craft knife. Peel the outside of the number off and stick into the centre of each mat. Stipple with a brush into the number gap using Resene Eighth Black White until fully painted in white. Once dry, line your pieces up in a hopscotch formation on the lawn or in your home and enjoy hours of fun with the kids.
