Soft spot

Make each day a sweet one for your child with these gentle, dreamy colours.

If you are a fan of neutrals but want to inject some colour into your children’s play spaces, sorbet shades are a great way to start. Soft and warm, they’ll also fit in with other neutrals used in your home.

For the brave

If you are feeling brave you could try one wall in a bold shade, such as Resene SpaceCote Flat in Resene Coconut Ice as a look-through colour, which we’ve done in the hallway. Otherwise, try it as a feature wall or inside the wardrobe. It’s a great way to use colour without it being too overwhelming. A thick bold stripe of colour around the skirting board and surround of your doorway is also a great way to introduce a bold touch to the room. Use masking tape to mark the area before painting a crisp line.

Beginner’s colour

Introduce colour by painting a piece of furniture such as a shelf to see how you like the feel of the colour in the space, before committing to more colour. You could also try a few different bold hues on smaller items such as wall dots using Resene testpots.

Tip  If using multiple Resene paints, put a dab of the colour on each paint lid and label what you painted for easy reference.
