It all started with the duvet cover that was bought at Spotlight about 6 months before redecorating the room was on the agenda.

6 year old Bailey loves Spiderman so rather than start anew, the Thorpes decided to stick with Spiderman theme colours and develop the room around that palette. The theme translated itself into Resene Sail on the upper part of the walls joined by Resene Resolution Blue on the lower half.

They ran into a few problems as the windows and doors were taken back to the natural timber - the windows and doors were full of borer holes and required treating and repainting with Resene Tory Blue.

To break all the blue and add a touch of colour, the trim around the centre of the room was painted in Resene Bright Red selected to fit with the new red roman blind. The Spiderman pinboard, a lucky find at the Martinborough Fair, is the dominant room feature with an added bonus of being a very practical way of hanging pictures.

Bailey's name plaque on his door, also finished in Resene Sail and Resene Resolution Blue, was made by his friend, while the Spiderman crochet blanket on the end of the bed completing the look was handmade by his Nana.

The room makeover cost around $700 comprising, paint $150, blind $364, duvet $69, pinboard $65, poster $15 and toybox $30.
