Background to mural creation:
Wanganui Girls' College has been beautified with murals depicting all the subject areas represented including science, arts and technology, sport, English, languages, mathematics/accounting. All of these are building towards a larger school mural project. Each year the school runs a competition between houses - each house draws the theme and model artists from a hat and then they have three weeks of lunchtimes to complete the murals. Once complete the murals are displayed in their various subject areas in the school.
