Painted fence

It’s easy to spruce up an old stained wooden fence with a little bit of help from Resene.

Weekend DIY with Mark Rayner - Project 54

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need

To get the look: Mark stained the wooden garden shelves with Resene Waterborne Woodsman tinted to Resene Uluru.

Other ideas: For a warm yellow effect paint the fence with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Chardonnay.

Step one
In the garden sprayer, mix one part Resene Moss & Mould Killer to five parts clean water.

Step two
Wearing rubber gloves, spray and soak the wooden fence with the solution and leave for 48 hours.

Step three
Mix one part Resene Timber and Deck Wash to three parts clean water.

Step four
Scrub the wooden fence thoroughly with the solution using a stiff bristled brush.

Step five
Rinse well with clean water and allow the wooden fence to dry.

Step six
Apply one coat of Resene Wood Primer to the fence and allow to dry. Clean brush in mineral turpentine.

Step seven
Apply two coats of Resene Quarter Bianca to the top capping and fence posts allowing two hours for each coat to dry.

Step eight
Apply two coats of Resene Sandy Beach to the fence palings allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
