Real Fruit Parlour

The inspiration for the colour scheme was the bright and natural colours we find in fresh fruit and vegetables and a healthy outdoor lifestyle.

The client wanted a bright and vibrant space that reflected the core objective of the business to supply vitality and energy from fresh fruit, fruit smoothies, breakfast bowls and energy enhancing natural foods.

Real Fruit Parlour

Located in a corner retail tenancy with views over a busy carpark the design required a critical perspective on the remaining space with limited wall space.

As a small space with limited surface area to work with, the design team removed an old suspended ceiling and created an interior that crept out to the exterior by carrying the ply finishes outside.

Real Fruit Parlour - interior

The inspiration for the colour scheme for The Real Fruit Parlour was the bright and natural colours we find in fresh fruit and vegetables and a healthy outdoor lifestyle – the colours discovered in fresh smoothies and healthy food bowls of the café offering. Resene Zylone Sheen tinted to Resene Merino, a favourite hue, was used as a slightly warm white backdrop while Resene All Black was the perfect night sky colour for the green canopy of the ply tree to fall on. The timber ply was finished in Resene Aquaclear satin waterborne urethane to highlight the grain and the finish of the timber.

Resene Imaginarium Wallpaper Collection 12493 was specified for its lively design and colour palette and its images of tropical plants, animals and birds. This was placed up a stairwell to the toilet facilities and viewable through a cut away to the café space.

Colours from the paper were then picked out and used for the upholstery which had details of different coloured buttons on a sky blue background. Carefully coordinated colour in this project with honest natural finishes creates a space that instantly brings a smile to the face. Green woven flex for the hanging naked bulbs looks like vines wrapping around the branches of the tree. Ply tables and ply seats with black bases complete the fabric of this simple and playful space.
