car to colour

Kinloch

This house located on a new subdivision overlooking Kinloch township is a Group Architects inspired residence.

Match colour of car to front door

The form and colours of the mid-century period are expressed externally in classic black walls with white window trim and continue inside as each of the three insulated sandwich panel ‘pods’ define the different zones in the house.

The use of colour has been using in a significant way to explain the house concept of three blocks, organised under a gable roof form. Selecting the matching Resene paint for the house concrete base and internal skirtings has further reinforced the modelling of the house. Resene All Black and Titania were selected to match the colours of the ISP’s.

The front door

The careful selection of Resene Wallpaper Collection 504651 adds depth, texture and another layer.

Another playful experiment was to add colour to the back of all the wardrobe spaces, to minimise the impact of the cabinetry within each bedroom. This expands the size of the room, as the wardrobe door opens, extending the eye to the ceiling. They read more as standalone pieces of furniture, rather than built in within the wall of the room.

The master bedroom features Resene Whirlwind and the guest bedroom Resene Robin Egg Blue, both painted in Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen. Doors throughout are finished in Resene Aquaclear satin clear urethane, allowing the beauty of the timber to show through.

Special effort was also made to match the colour of a classic 1972 Corvette Stingray car’s metallic paint to the glass panelled front door and garage feature walls. Resene Rhapsody is now a bold accent against the black and white home.
