The Cubical Canvas

The concept store was divided into three areas, the showroom, the studio and the staff room. The shop was first painted in Resene Black White which works with the natural moderate light to balance the tone of the shop.

Focusing on “imagination has no boundary”, the theme of “The Cubical Canvas” was adopted, with seven custom-made giant wooden blocks, designed to display the merchandise, in attractive bright colours from the Resene The Range fashion colours. The cubes employ a range of shapes from the triangle in Resene Poppy, the bridge in Resene Wild Thing, the rectangle in Resene Campground, and the blocks in Resene Optimist, Resene Buttercup, Resene Wheel Of Fortune and Resene Half Black White.

The bold cubes are designed to be moved around the store to create different contrasts, a figurative of unlimited palettes, colour construction and de-constructions with lights and shadows; cubes in a cubical canvas, they are different, yet they are one. As the seasonal wares change, so too will the cube colours, with a repaint to suit each fresh seasonal collection.
