Painting ceilings

Note: For a visual of the steps below outlining how to prepare and paint new plasterboard ceilings, please reference the PDF flowchart.

Wet areas? Yes –

1. Resene Sureseal (D42)
2. Lightly sand using 220 zinc sterate sandpaper
3. Topcoat option/s (new and repaints)
   • Resene SpaceCote Flat (D314) x 2 coats

Wet areas? No –

1. Sealer options:
   • Resene Broadwall Wallboard Sealer (D403)
   • Resene Decorator Hi-Cover (T17)
2. Lightly sand using 220 zinc sterate sandpaper
3. Topcoat option/s (new and repaints)
   • Resene Ceiling Flat White (D305)  OR
   • Resene Decorator Ceiling Flat White (DT)

Note: For more information on products, view the Product Data Sheet referred to in ( ) after the product name. Decorator products are recommended for trade use only.

Notes

• Cut in the edges of the ceiling and scotia beadings, making sure to allow to leave a margin wide enough to roll to. If the walls are going to be painted after the ceilings,allow to paint down the walls. This makes it easier to cut in the walls neatly.

• Roll the ceilings across the rooms from the principal light sources.

• An extension pole makes the job much easier.

• Shift furniture to make the job easier.
