How to paint your own DIY book covers

Create with paint! Projects from habitat by Resene

As the kids head back to school, allow them to ease into their new routine with these fun DIY book covers.

This happy watermelon pattern is a piece of summer they can take into the classroom. Simply paint onto an A4 piece of paper and slip into the front of their folders.

Instructions

  1. Pencil around the half circle cut outs onto the A4 paper, creating the shape for the watermelon slices.
  2. Paint the shapes in Resene Poppy and leave to dry.
  3. For the rind, line the bottom of the watermelon in Resene Alabaster and Resene Bingo.
  4. Create the pips by painting dots in Resene Nero.

Top tip: Paint a series of covers inspired by different fruits in Resene testpot colours so you can quickly identify which book is which. Think oranges, pineapples and other fun and colourful fruits.

Project by Nikki Astwood, 2020.
