Habitat bright ideas with Fleur Thorpe – DIY projects

Make a colourful easter wreath for your front door. Fleur Thorpe shows you how.

How to make an Easter wreath
Door colour – Resene Clockwork Orange

You will need

Instructions

Step 1:  Start with a whole lot of papier-mâché eggs, available from some craft stores or you can make your own. Fleur used about 38 eggs. (Photo 1).

Step 2:  Paint your eggs in a range of graduating colours, painting at least one small and one big egg in each colour. Fleur used Resene Blackberry, Resene Merlot, Resene Geronimo, Resene Red Herring, Resene Coral Tree, Resene Ayers Rock, Resene Fuel Yellow, Resene Funk, Resene Corvette, Resene Botticelli, Resene Ming, Resene Blue Lagoon, Resene Swamp and Resene Blue Diamond. (Photo 2). Allow to dry and apply a second coat.

Step 3:  Use a hot glue gun to attach the eggs to your wreath frame. Fleur found a wreath frame that already had foliage attached to it, but you could start with a bare frame and choose whether to add foliage or not. (Photo 3). Allow to dry.

Step 4:  Hang up your wreath so everyone can enjoy your colourful Easter creation.

Top tip:  Use Resene FX Metallic on selected eggs for extra sparkle and shine. You can also get children involved and ask them to paint designs on each egg. Stick to a consistent colour palette to help tie the look together.
