If mismatched socks seem to be a reoccurrence in your household, here’s a clever system – an odd socks board to keep aside any socks missing their other half.

We created our odd socks board using an old picture frame, brightened up with Resene colours from the latest fashion range.

You will need

A5 picture frame
Resene testpot brushes
Resene testpots in your choice of colours; Leigh used Resene Mystery, Resene Meditation and Resene Raindance
2 mini screws
6 wooden pegs
Twine
Super glue
White chalkboard pen

Wall painted in Resene Rice Cake, frame in Resene Mystery, mat board in Resene Meditation, backing board in Resene Raindance, string in Resene Mystery and pegs in Resene Meditation and Resene Mystery.

Instructions

Step one
Dismantle the picture frame, carefully placing the glass aside.

Step two
Paint the different pieces – the frame in Resene Mystery, the mat board in Resene Meditation and the backing board in Resene Raindance. Leave to dry.

Paint other frame

Step three
Put the screws into the left and right side of the inner part of the frame, so that the string will sit halfway across the frame.

Step four
Paint three of the pegs in Resene Meditation and the other three in Resene Mystery. Leave to dry.

Step five
Paint the string in Resene Mystery. Leave to dry.

Step six
Place the frame back together.

Tie string across back

Step seven
Tie the string.

Step eight
Taking the three pegs painted in Resene Mystery, glue them onto the bottom of the frame, evenly spaced apart.

Step nine
Use the chalkboard pen to write a fun reminder for the family to keep a look out for their missing socks. You’re on your way to having an organised sock draw!

Top tip: Paint the pegs in each of your children’s favourite Resene colours so that you can peg the socks on their own coloured pegs until they find their missing sock partner.
