Decorating bug

So, they started with an update the kitchen. Anna had a great time designing and planning the heart of the house – but faltered when it came to choosing the right colour. Anna painted testpot after testpot on the walls – but just couldn't get the feel she was after.

In the end she asked Wayne Good. Straight away he 'got' what Anna was wanting to achieve and came up with a short list of colours. Anna quickly narrowed it down to one – Resene Seaweed. The only snag – Greig hated it!! I knew it was going to look amazing so got the painters to paint it in Resene Seaweed anyway. It turned out amazing and they all (Greig included) love it. The colour just finishes the room off and gives the exact feel Anna was after – modern but in keeping with the style of the house.

One wall is also painted in Resene Seaweed in a chalkboard paint finish with a Resene Magnetic Magic undercoat. This is now a real focus of the room as they can hang notices etc and write notes, lists or the kids can just draw all over it. Near the top where they can't reach their sister's friend who does calligraphy will come in and write a Dr Seuss saying. They have had so many compliments on the colour and people are always asking what colour it is.

With the kitchen complete and looking so good Anna wanted to keep going with the rest of the house. The laundry is painted Resene Coast. Anna loves blues and wanted a deep tone to match the kitchen. She now enjoys doing laundry!!

Not satisfied with this and getting some confidence with colour they started on the bedrooms. For the master bedroom Anna used a wallpaper as inspiration and painted the walls Resene Albescent White. The effect of the colour and the wallpaper makes Anna smile every time she walks into the room. Their 8 year old daughter also picked a feature wallpaper now teamed with Resene Blanched Pink. Her room now looks twice as big and light and she loves it.

Anna has definitely got the decorating bug and has booked the painters to come back and paint their 11 year old's bedroom in Resene Unwind and Resene Ming and their 6 year old daughter's bedroom in Resene Mesmerise and Resene Chapta And Verse with one wall as a whiteboard with Resene FX Write-on Wall Paint. The lounge and hallway are to be done at the same time and Anna is currently trying our Resene Lemon Grass and Resene Bison Hide as options.

The exterior of the house was painted in Resene Half Arrowtown with the garage doors in Resene Ironsand and the fascia in Resene Bark wood stain.
