Colour makes this home

A lot of a love was needed to create a home for their family so we embarked on a major renovation with the help of Stephanie’s dad who luckily owns an award winning building company. The renovation saw the house go from a three and a half bedroom, one bathroom house to a three bedroom, two bathroom house and included the removal of internal walls to create an open plan layout, new ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, new kitchen, the addition of a new entry and garage, a window seat, two sets of French doors off the living room and master bedroom and a new deck. The renovation took just over six months.

They wanted their house to reflect their personalities and to be a place that was fun and vibrant but most of all that felt like home, and to achieve this they used a number of Resene colours on both the interior and exterior. The house also needed to suit their large collection of restored and repurposed second hand 1960s furniture.

For a striking first impression, the exterior is painted in Resene Bali Hai and white, with a pop of colour – Resene Citron – on the front door and letterbox. Resene Delta welcomes you in at the entry. The living and kitchen area has been painted in Resene Quarter Powder Blue. The blue theme continues into the master bedroom, ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and main bathroom with Resene Half Robin Egg Blue (walls) and Resene Robin Egg Blue (doors). The other bedrooms are finished in Resene Half Miso.

People often comment on how lovely this home is and that the Kelly family were brave to use so much colour. They just wanted to create a home that they loved and that made them feel good, which is exactly what they have achieved.
