Love of colour

Melanie and her husband recently bought this ex-state house. They painted the inside themselves before moving in with their daughters. This is the second house they’ve renovated – the first used quite a lot of colour. While they were house hunting Melanie got so tired of looking at beige interiors! This time around Melanie told herself she was going to go easy on the colour and paint the house white… but she couldn’t help herself and this is what they’ve ended up with. Melanie loves colour – both bright, bold colours and softer tones.

Melanie’s colours are:

• Entranceway: Melanie used Resene Paris White and Resene Half Rice Cake for the design and painted the coat hook Resene Tulip Tree.

• Bedroom: The walls are Resene Half Beryl Green from the Karen Walker range and the triangles are painted in Resene Goldmine, Resene Wax Flower, Resene Tuft Bush and Resene Cornflower.

• Kitchen: The design above the splashback was painted using Resene Sakura, Resene Moby, Resene Hampton, Resene Paris White, Resene Corn Field, Resene Westar, Resene Half Rice Cake and Resene Norwester. Melanie painted the splashback tiles Resene Corn Field. The rest of the kitchen is Resene Half Rice Cake.

• Lounge: Melanie painted the walls Resene Half Rice Cake and did one feature wall in Resene Paris White. The arrow design is painted using Resene Westar.
