Contemporary classics

From habitat plus - decorating and colour trends 2023

The reason some interior styles become classics is because they’re able to be adapted to suit contemporary colour trends and ways of living.

Looks like Hamptons style, beachy or monochrome allow us all to embrace timeless elegance with our own personal, and local, spin. They come in clean lines against warmer, beige neutrals such as Resene Akaroa, Resene Colorwood Breathe Easy, Resene Half Cougar, Resene Double Thorndon Cream and Resene Ash.

Today’s classics also tend to embrace darker, more intense shades where previously we might have opted for only paler or more subtle hues. Warm up a beachy look with a touch of earthy tones that play well with other colours such as Resene Spice or Resene Leather. Update the Hamptons style with muted grey-blue Resene Baring Head or be dramatic with the brick tone of Resene Pioneer Red.

The on-trend tones of a deep blue tongue-and-groove wall in Resene Watermark brings the classic blue, white and wood of the Hamptons look right up to date.
