From the Resene/Your Home and Garden Colour Home Awards Competition - Nov 2010 finalist
Having spent two years restoring their Auckland villa, one of Kate Woodruffe and Steve Dorner’s final tasks was to paint the exterior.
Kate wanted a muted blue/grey for the exterior and found it in Resene Powder Blue from the range of Karen Walker Paints range. Inspired by the Bird of Paradise plants in the front garden, she chose Resene Clementine Orange for the front door.
The window frames and sashes are in Resene Wan White, also from the Karen Walker Paints range, the window sills, veranda and skirting are Resene Fuscous Grey, and the roof is Resene Mid Grey.
The interior walls are Resene Milk White from the Karen Walker Paints range.
Did you know: The Karen Walker Paints range is inspired by the Bauhaus school of the 1920s? The concept behind the range was to create and combine colours from an emotional point of view rather than a technical one, to group colours in a way that tells a story rather than simply matching them tonally. With this in mind, the collection includes six colour stories that, true to the Karen Walker style, play with combining opposites and putting together ideas in surprising ways.
