Resene kids art with Mark Rayner - Project 21

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need: Artists’ brush, Paintbrush, Resene Quick Dry waterborne primer undercoat, Resene Multishield+ gloss (now Resene Concrete Clear), Resene testpots of Resene Black, Resene Broom, Resene Daredevil and Resene Malibu, Terracotta monkey

Top tip: Terracotta figures are sold at most garden centres.

Here's another idea: Try a different combination of colours like Resene Mariner and Resene Bright Red.

Step 1
Step one
Prime the monkey with one coat of Resene Quick Dry. Allow to dry.
Step 2
Step two
Paint the monkey with two coats of Resene Daredevil – allow at least two hours to dry between coats.
Step 3

Using the artists’ brush, paint the eyes of the monkey with Resene Malibu and around the mouth with two coats of Resene Broom. Once this has dried, fill in face details with Resene Black, as shown.
Step 4
Step four
Once fully dried (after about two hours) paint the monkey with three coats of Resene Multishield+ (now Resene Concrete Clear), allowing two hours to dry between coats. Once he’s dry, put your funky monkey out in the garden where he can hide in the grass.
