Turn a humble lavender plant into a piece of garden art with a little bit of help from Resene.
Resene art with Mark Rayner - Project 111
Difficulty level: Moderate
To get the look: Mark painted the background shed wall with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Alaska.
Other ideas: For a calm green effect use a combination of Resene Soft Apple and Resene Parsley.
Step one
Measure, mark and cut the timber and plywood to the dimensions listed above. Smooth any rough edges with sandpaper.
Step two
Assemble the pieces of timber and plywood to form a rectangular display box, as shown. Fix with 50mm screws, drilling pilot holes first.
Step three
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the display box and allow to dry.
Step four
Apply one coat of Resene Terracotta Sealer to the terracotta pot and allow to dry.
Step five
Apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Reverie to the display box and allow to dry.
Step six
Apply a second coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Reverie to the display box and allow to dry. Fix the display box to a wooden fence or shed wall with 50mm screws, drilling pilot holes first.
Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Valour to the terracotta pot and allow to dry.
Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Valour to the terracotta pot. Once dry, pot up the lavender using potting mix and stand the potted plant in the display box.
