After a lengthy creation process, the smarthome was officially opened at the Nelson A&P Show, the start of its travels around the region.
It has long been recognised that seeing technologies and innovations ‘in the flesh’ is very engaging. So, after the run-away success of Ecofest, the Nelson City Council and the Tasman District Council decided to join forces and create a travelling roadshow display with Ecofest to demonstrate all the ways that people can make their homes more sustainable.
Smart insulation, smart building, smart energy and smart water are just some of the topics on display. Heat pumps, double glazing, blinds, recycling, plumbing and paint are all included, as well as ideas on how to reduce the chemicals in your home.
The smarthome is finished in Environmental Choice approved paint finishes with Resene AquaShield mineral effect finish tinted to Resene Okey Dokey (bread beige) on the exterior and Resene SpaceCote Flat waterborne enamel tinted to Resene Fringy Flower (mint green) on interior walls complemented by Resene Silver Tree (clean green) on trims. Resene AquaShield combines the water repellent properties of silicones with a special surface microstructure considerably reducing the contact area for water and dirt, so that dirt particles adhere loosely and are more easily carried away by raindrops, leaving a dry and attractive façade.
Seeing is believing, so check out the smarthome for the latest in smart ideas.
