Create a colourful version of this classic game with a little bit of help from Resene.

Resene Toys and Games with Mark Rayner – Project 42

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need

To get the look: Mark painted the background tabletop with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Groovy.

Other ideas: For a pink and red combination use a combination of Resene Cabaret and Resene Poppy.

How to make a solitaire game

 

Step 1 Step one
Measure, mark and cut the MDF into a 400mm square.


Step 2 Step two
Measure and mark out a 6 x 6 grid of 40mm squares in the centre of the piece of MDF, as shown.


Step 3 Step three
Drill a pattern of 18mm holes on the grid, as shown, approximately 10mm deep.


Step 4 Step four
Sand the piece of MDF and wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.


Step 5 Step five
Apply one coat of Resene Quick Dry to the MDF board and allow to dry.


Step 6 Step six
Paint the inside of each of the drilled holes with two coats of Resene Curious Blue, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.


Step 7 Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene California to the rest of the board and allow to dry.


Step 8 Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene California to the board and allow to dry. Place the marbles in the configuration shown in the main picture.
