Light spot
A recent project painting the kitchen and dining area was designed to lighten this 10 year old home as the existing maroon colour meant that lights were needed virtually all day every day through winter. The dark stained timber wall unit just didn't match anything, and especially not the timber veneer cupboards that the budget dictated they must retain.

Resene Akaroa was chosen to lighten and brighten the space, enhancing the cream window joinery and softening the look of the cupboard units. The wall unit was refreshed with a distressed paint effect finish comprising a basecoat of Resene Arrowtown followed by Resene Akaroa and then light sanding back to reveal hints of the dark tone below.

Next step will be timber blinds of the kitchen windows and new cream striped curtains for the dining room. The effect of the new colour scheme is so uplifting that the lounge and family room are next on the painting to do list.
