Decorating inspiration gallery
Best of both worldsHaving recently redecorated, the spare bedroom was the last room left to do in the house. Kirsty wanted the colours to flow through the house so that all the rooms would look connected. In the spare bedroom she was torn between creating a calm atmosphere or a vibrant, uplifting atmosphere. Going against everything that she had learnt about colours, she decided to do both! Resene Dynamite became the spare bedroom feature wall. Used elsewhere in the house with Resene Aubergine, the Resene Dynamite feature wall linked the spare bedroom into the rest of the house. To achieve the calm atmosphere she was seeking, Resene Sisal was painted onto the remaining walls. The Resene Sisal on all other walls tones the red down enabling Kirsty to achieve both calm and excitement. Visitors get a hit of colour as they look through the door but once in bed the Resene Sisal surrounds those resting and gives the room a light, calm, serene feeling. Keeping to plain, simple calico curtains throughout the house has helped to link every room, working well with all the individual colours and stopping the rooms from feeling too busy.
