Background to mural creation:
The Milson Deviation project was officially opened on 21 October 1963, when crowds of two thousand gathered at the new site complete with new building and new sets of tracks. Forty years ago the trains were 'removed from the congested heart of the city' and the tracks buried into the railway land.

One by one images of historical matter appeared at the Palmerston North Railway station from 21 October.

Nine artworks 3m wide x 2m tall are installed on the face of the railway building at first floor level - inside and flush with the windows featuring:
